WITH PETE, YOUR DAMP GUY

Similar marks.
Different causes.

A damp patch is a clue, not a diagnosis. Pete looks at the way your property is built, where moisture appears and what changes after rain or in colder weather before discussing treatment.

01

Rising damp

Moisture can move up through porous masonry from the ground. Low-level staining, salts and damaged finishes can be signs, but other moisture problems can look similar. A survey helps establish whether ground moisture is involved and which work is appropriate.

02

Penetrating damp

Water entering through the building can leave isolated patches or marks that worsen after rain. Roof details, gutters, pointing and wall surfaces may all need investigating. Addressing the route of water entry is central to a lasting repair.

03

A finish that follows the repair

Plaster can be affected by damp and salts. Once the cause and necessary work are understood, Pete can discuss preparation, boarding or plastering where appropriate, along with drying time before decoration.

DAMP QUESTIONS?
START HERE.

Is the damp survey free?

Yes. Pete offers free, no-obligation damp surveys and quotations. Send your postcode and a short description of the problem to arrange the next step.

Can you identify damp from a photograph?

A photo can help start the conversation, but marks alone do not reliably establish the source. An inspection may be needed to understand the building and recommend suitable work.

Do older stone homes need a different approach?

They can. Traditional walls and finishes handle moisture differently from many modern constructions. The existing materials, ventilation and condition of the building should inform the repair.

How much does damp proofing cost?

It depends on the cause, affected area, access and any associated repairs or finishing. Pete provides a quotation after understanding the work, so you can decide before going ahead.
